These infrastructure gaps affect the quality of early childhood education, nutrition, and health services delivered to millions of children."
Every child deserves a safe, inspiring, and technology-enabled environment to learn, play, and grow. Yet thousands of Anganwadi Centres across India continue to function without adequate infrastructure, reliable electricity, clean sanitation, or quality learning resources, limiting their ability to provide holistic early childhood care and education.
TrueLeaf Foundation, through Project Naya Aangan, is committed to rebuilding 500 Anganwadi Centers in alignment with the Government of India's vision for strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). Our vision goes beyond constructing buildings. We aim to develop AI-Powered Smart Solar Anganwadis that combine sustainable infrastructure with modern technology to create safe, inclusive, and future-ready learning environments for children aged 0–6 years.
What Makes a Smart Solar Anganwadi?
Each Smart Solar Anganwadi will feature:
• Safe, child-friendly infrastructure with clean classrooms, toilets, drinking water, and outdoor play areas.
• Rooftop solar power systems to ensure uninterrupted electricity for lighting, fans, digital learning, and essential services.
• AI-enabled digital learning tools offering interactive, multilingual, age-appropriate educational content.
• AI-powered child growth and nutrition monitoring for timely identification of developmental and nutritional concerns.
• Digital health records and smart attendance systems to improve service delivery and transparency.
• Smart dashboards for real-time monitoring of education, health, nutrition, and infrastructure performance.
• Rainwater harvesting, kitchen gardens, and eco-friendly practices to promote environmental sustainability.
• Community-led maintenance committees to ensure long-term ownership and upkeep of solar infrastructure.
Empowering Anganwadi Workers Through AI
Artificial Intelligence is designed to support—not replace—Anganwadi workers. AI-assisted tools will help reduce administrative workload by simplifying lesson planning, maintaining digital records, generating health and nutrition reports, sending immunization reminders, and enabling data-driven decision-making. This allows workers to spend more time engaging with children and supporting families.
Sustainable, Scalable, and Community-Driven
A key challenge in rural solar infrastructure is long-term maintenance. To address this, Project Naya Aangan promotes Community-Led Management Committees comprising local volunteers and parents who will oversee routine maintenance, identify trained technicians within the village, and establish a small community maintenance fund. This model ensures that every Smart Solar Anganwadi remains functional and sustainable for years to come.
